Dermal Fillers
When to consider A Dermal Filler Treatment
Sometimes, it’s not about a nip/tuck but more about a plump/smooth. In the early signs of aging, dermal fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face. The natural loss of volume in the face paired with skin laxity can make wrinkles and skin laxity appear more severe, and a thoughtful application of dermal fillers can restore a youthful look.
How It Helps
Fillers are perfect for places where you want to add volume or smooth fine lines. Fillers won’t lift skin with a lot of sagging, but they replace lost volume, contributing to a rejuvenated, more well-rested appearance.
BEFORE
What to expect before a filler application
Dr. Diana Ponsky and her skilled clinical staff will begin your consultation by asking about your goals and expectations, then discuss any pre-existing health conditions or risk factors. After examining, photographing, and analyzing your face, they will discuss potential options, a recommended course of treatment, and outcomes, risks, or potential complications.
DURING
What to expect during a filler application
Fillers are sometimes mixed with lidocaine to minimize discomfort. Your face will be mapped for injection sites and then cleansed. A numbing cream may be applied before the injections to help reduce pain. Injections usually take only a few moments per site, with intermittent massage and gentle compression between injections. Depending on the number of areas to be treated, the process may take 15 minutes to an hour.
AFTER
What to expect after a filler application
You may be offered an ice pack to reduce swelling and alleviate discomfort. Although the area may feel tender for a day or two, it is usually not painful enough to require any medication. There may be redness, swelling, or bruising that can last up to a few weeks. Give yourself time to heal and get comfortable with your renewed appearance. We recommend scheduling your filler appointment at least two weeks before a big event.
