When to consider a Non-surgical Chin Augmentation
LOCATED IN BEACHWOOD | SERVING CLEVELAND AND NORTHEAST OHIO
A balanced chin is the foundation of a beautiful profile. People unhappy with their profile often focus on the size of their nose, but a chin filler augmentation may be just as important in achieving facial harmony. When the chin is brought into proportion with the rest of the face, the results can be dramatic and very satisfying. Some people choose to have a non-surgical chin augmentation at the same time as their non-surgical rhinoplasty procedure.
How It Helps
Non-invasive chin augmentation yields a more balanced facial appearance and is ideal for those looking for a subtle, natural change to the shape of the chin. Instead of a typical solid-state implant, a non-invasive chin augmentation is accomplished using a filler preparation, most commonly hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyapatite preparations. Most chin fillers are temporary, with results lasting months to years.
BEFORE
What to expect before non-invasive chin Filler augmentation
Double-board certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Diana Ponsky and nurse practitioner Olivia Marino, along with our trained clinical staff, will begin your consultation by asking about your goals and expectations, then discuss any pre-existing health conditions or risk factors. After examining, photographing, and analyzing your face, they will discuss potential options, a recommended course of treatment, and outcomes, risks, or potential complications.
DURING
What to expect during non-invasive chin Filler augmentation
The procedure is relatively straightforward, but fillers have many options. Juvederm Voluma is a good choice for areas like the cheeks and chin, shown to last up to two years in clinical studies. The effects of this filler are entirely reversible if results need to be adjusted. Lyft is a more robust version of Restylane, a hyaluronic acid filler that lasts for about 10 months and is also fully reversible. Radiesse, a filler composed of calcium hydroxylapatite with cellulose, is the most robust filler available today, ideal for patients with more pronounced retrusion. Calcium hydroxylapatite is biodegradable, so your body safely absorbs it over time.
AFTER
What to expect after non-invasive chin augmentation
You may experience minor bruising, mild swelling, redness, and tenderness, all of which should resolve within about a week. Most people are back to work the following day with a natural appearance. You might expect up to two weeks of swelling and several days of pain. Once healed, however, you can expect up to two years of results with no maintenance.
