Submental Liposuction
When to consider liposuction for a double chin
LOCATED IN BEACHWOOD | SERVING CLEVELAND AND NORTHEAST OHIO
Genetics and cycles of weight gain and loss can leave stubborn fat deposits that diet and exercise may not reduce. A double chin is one of the most common stubborn areas. Submental liposuction can improve the contour of the jawline and area beneath the chin. For excess skin of the neck, in addition to fullness, a neck lift may be recommended for a more defined look.
Submental liposuction is a precise procedure that reduces excess fat from beneath the chin and upper neck. Performed by double-board certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Diana Ponsky, the results can dramatically improve, with the face appearing both younger and slimmer.
How It Helps
Submental liposuction resculpts the facial profile, affecting the entire face from the front and side views. A slimmer, toned profile restores a youthful appearance and elongates the neck. This procedure is long-lasting and maintenance-free.

DURING
What to expect during liposuction for a double chin
The area is marked before the procedure, and a numbing solution is injected. The liposuction cannula is inserted through tiny incisions, and the fat is gently extracted. Attention to detail ensures a uniformly smooth, improved contour.
AFTER
What to expect after submental liposuction
Swelling, tenderness, and bruising are common right after submental liposuction. Many patients return to work 3-5 days after the procedure, with some variation based on the individual. You will need to wear a light compression bandage for about three days after the procedure to minimize swelling and provide gentle support. Elevating your head while sleeping reduces swelling and speeds recovery. The swelling will continue to improve gradually, revealing an improved neck contour.
