FUE Hair Restoration
When to consider FUE hair restoration
FUE HAIR RESTORATION SURGEON LOCATED IN BEACHWOOD | SERVING CLEVELAND AND NORTHEAST OHIO
Our hairline becomes narrower and higher with time, which can impact self-esteem. It is normal to lose about 50-100 hairs each day, but increased loss over time gradually leads to thinning and balding. About 40% of men notice balding by 40, typically along the frontal hairline, and 85% of men will experience hair loss before age 50.
Hair loss in women is more common than you think. Forty percent of women may also see hair loss before age 40. It may be localized to the frontal region, but most women with female-pattern baldness will start to experience thinning over the crown or top of the head. In women, hair loss may either be diffuse, causing generalized alopecia, or more localized to the frontal region as in men.
Hair is an essential expression of personality, youth, and style. Whether it’s short-term or long-term, losing your hair can be stressful. Modern hair transplant techniques like FUE Hair Restoration can turn back the clock.
How It Helps
Hair restoration surgery performed by Dr. Diana Ponsky can restore a frontal hairline and add density to the mid-scalp and crown area, resulting in thicker hair and a more defined hairline. Most patients who are good candidates for hair transplantation procedures are delighted with the natural look of the final results.
BEFORE
What to expect before FUE hair Restoration surgery
Bring photos of your face from earlier years to compare the shape and position of your original hairline. Your hair growth (and loss) pattern and strand density will be evaluated. Careful examination before surgery will help ensure the final results are natural and undetectable.
DURING
What to expect during FUE Hair Restoration surgery
We commonly administer local anesthesia and oral sedation during FUE hair surgery to ensure your comfort. Suppose you require hair transplantation for your frontal hairline. In that case, double-board certified Dr. Ponsky will collaborate with you to design a natural and age-appropriate profile and hairline that enhances your appearance. The hair at the back of your head will be trimmed with clippers, and local anesthesia will be injected into your scalp. Our team will utilize an FUE device to extract the hair follicles, which will be kept in cooled saline to maintain viability. Each graft will be implanted into small slits on the balding area of your scalp and placed precisely by hand with tiny forceps. This method ensures accurate placement, preventing noticeable grafts, as was common with older techniques.
AFTER
What to expect after FUE Hair Restoration surgery
At the end of the FUE Hair Restoration procedure, a light dressing is applied overnight, and the patient is seen the following day in the office for dressing removal. There is usually minimal discomfort and swelling of the scalp following FUE hair restoration, and most patients will take oral pain medication for the first 12-24 hours. You can return to light physical exercise within two weeks and all physical activities within one month. The hair shafts will usually shed within a few weeks following transplantation and begin to grow again around three months. The final results will be seen within 12-14 months after the procedure as the hairs grow and thrive, creating a thicker head of hair.
